In 1908, Dr. Ernest Fahnestock purchased a 115-acre farm from George W. Stillwell. He built a 25-room residence with a five-bay, hipped-roof Colonial Revival style. It was later sold to Ray H. Stillman and then changed hands again to Fred Thorngreen. Thorngreen renovated the home into a restaurant, hotel, and nightclub. In June 1943, Thorngreen opened a restaurant named Shadow Brook Inn. Throughout the years, the ownership has changed, and it is presently owned by partners Mark Spinelli, Jim Kourgelis, and company. The restaurant serves Traditional American cuisine, with an upscale casual dress code. It has also become a popular venue for weddings and other events.
